Kent Earthquake… “We will rebuild”

David sent me the headline photograph – but no details – so my mind – in damage control mode – searched for the details… I needn’t have worried – his daughter Trish had it well covered on her Facebook page…

Kent woken up by 4.2 magnitude earthquake – but Twitter seems to be taking it in its stride with hilarious show of ‘solidarity’.  People in east Kent tell of tremors hitting just before 3am this morning.  Epicentre two miles west of Ramsgate – near Kent International Airport.  ‘We Will Rebuild’ and ‘Pray For Kent’ memes on Twitter make light of quake.  Campaigners warned earthquake should be a warning against fracking

From spilt coffee cups to overturned garden furniture, Twitter is awash with images of the ‘devastation’ caused by a 4.2 magnitude earthquake which shook houses across southern England today.  Residents in the south east, particularly Kent, told how they were hit by tremors just before 3am , with the epicentre of the earthquake located just two miles west of Ramsgate.  The earthquake – which had a depth of three miles (5km) – was also reported to have been felt as far away as Watton in Norfolk, while there were also claims of tremors in Essex, Suffolk and Surrey.  Campaigners said the earthquake should serve as a warning against fracking in Kent and the surrounding area.  Dozens of people took to social media to report their experience of the tremors, with claims of houses shaking for ten seconds and dogs and birds left distressed.

Happy to report that the culural centre of Kent – Ickham’s Duke William – survived without a scratch…
